The Kid’s Marathon is an excellent opportunity to help children accomplish running 26.2 miles over the course of several weeks. It has the potential of involving schools, civic organizations and families in a goal oriented fitness plan.
The marathon will target children ages 5-12 who can participate in a group or as individuals. This would work well into the last 6 weeks of school physical education class or health unit.
Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston has a website with a training guide free to download and utilize in your classroom along with TEKS points. There are also 8 live training videos to assist you in utilizing the information.
If you would be interested in being involved as a volunteer with this project, please contact Melanie Brashear at mmbrashear@veopoint.com.
The Alley Run’s successful track record is due in a large part to the many helpful volunteers that support the run each year. This year will require even more help with the addition of the Kid’s Marathon.
We are in need of people to help with registration, course support at turns along the race, and teams to work the water stations.
If you or your group would like to help with the run in any capacity please contact:
